This week, we’re getting sassy on social media, no longer want cars in New York, and are planning on copping some free pizza from Papa John’s on Saturday.

Optimistic vibes only

As more people are getting vaccinated and pandemic mandates get lifted, it’s no surprise we are all getting excited about the future. Naturally, marketers have taken notice of this optimism and as a result, a flurry of new ads are beginning to emerge that celebrate all the different moments we have missed. The Drum rounded up their five favorite “opening day” ads and you can check them out here.

Brands are getting sassy and weird

Once upon a time, a brand’s social media strategy typically focused on a manicured feed and perfect messaging. However, this set blueprint is now being overlooked as many brands are trying to make a memorable splash- not only “in-feed” but also in consumers’ minds. Some brands have started OnlyFans accounts, while others have begun “shitposting.” Bottomline, it is all about staying relevant and memorable.

Give us some space

Outdoor dining arrangements have already given us a look at what we could do with space that was once dedicated to parking, but what would happen if we took more space away? New York City transit advocacy group Transportation Alternatives (TA) wanted to reimagine what such a street space would look like and created the 25×25 campaign, which challenges New York’s next leaders to put 25% of street space to use for things other than cars by 2025. The results? Fascinating. Check out the renderings here!

WeTransfer is here to support you

WeTransfer wants to support emerging creative talent including artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, and musicians, and as a result, has launched an arts foundation called The Supporting Act. The decision is not out of the blue as WeTransfer has had a long history of supporting the creative community, however, now more than ever, artists around the world need help because of the pandemic. Starting in 2022, The Supporting Act will run educational programs, grants, and an annual prize, so be on the lookout!

Happy National Bitcoin Pizza Day!

In 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz traded 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John’s pizzas. So naturally, this weekend, Papa Johns is going to give away 10,000 slices of pizza to the first 50 customers that ask for the Bitcoin Pizza Deal at their Jacksonville Papa John’s location to celebrate the historical transaction. I’ve never wanted to live in Florida more than I do right now!
